Kitchener-Waterloo GO service set for next year
Published in the Toronto Star
ON - GO Transit plans to run trains to Kitchener-Waterloo by the end of next year.
The new $18 million service is expected to attract about 2,300 riders initially and between 9,000 and 16,000 by 2031.
GO expects to run two trains each in the morning and afternoon rush on the CN track west of Georgetown, with one stop each in Kitchener, Guelph and Acton to begin.
But there are plans to eventually add one additional station in Kitchener and Guelph.

This is awesome for you jokers in the west but I'm still waiting for my train to Clarington. As far as I'm concerned, that should be the NUMBER ONE priority.
From what I've heard, those trains will be extensions of existing service on the G-town line. Yay for overcrowding. But, it's a step in the right direction.
ReplyDeleteThey're trying to push service to Bowmanville which would be completed in 2015, including 2 or 3 Oshawa stations and Courtice (aka Darlington Station). I wouldn't hold your breath though!
ReplyDeleteYour problem CJ is that they have to cross the 401 to get tracks to Courtice/Bowmanville. Not an easy feat.
ReplyDeleteSomebody's going to have to change their slogan, since you won't have to drive to Acton any more.
ReplyDeleteThe Courtice/Bowmabvilel extension is currently undergroing an Environmental Asessement - see http://www.gotransit.com/public/en/improve/projects.aspx for details.
ReplyDeleteGO have included in their list of porjets they want done by 2021.
There are perfectly good tracks and lots of space to get a train through Bolton, Tottenham, Beeton and Alliston too...when is that ever going to happen?
ReplyDeleteWhen they get money?
