I will admit, I drank too much wine and I'm relying heavily on spell-check but if you live in Oshawa/Courtice/Bomanville/Newcastle, whatever, tonight I had the best Greek food I have ever had this side of the Danforth.
I don't like lamb but my husband had the rack and I tried a little and it was incredibly tender. If you can get pass the sweet little lamb from the Flintstones, then you can inhale this dish.
I had their appetizer platter which consisted of pita bread paired with tzatziki, feta, hummus, sundried tomatoes and olives.
Wow. I really shouldn't have had that half litre of house wine (Jackson Triggs white something or other). My entree consisted of chicken souvlaki. I wound up carting home over half of my meal because we ordered too much food. The calamari was also good.
All together, two people minus alcohol can dine for $55 to $60, including appetizers, inclusive. So worth riding the party train (4:53pm) home.

I live in Bomanville and can't say enough about Zante's. I would definitely recommend it to your fellow GO-ers who live out this way.
will definitely try it. hard to find good greek east of the danforth, especially in oshawa. there is mr a's quickflame on king but i find them too pricey. this place seems more reasonable.
I will have to try this place. It is hard to find good Greek food in Durham.
oh yum!!! Thanks for the tip! Im always looking for good restaurants in Durham. Tommy's on Bayley in Ajax is also a great Greek restaurant, similarly priced and the food is delicious.
Definitely go. The service was great, good timing on how the food was brought out and the restaurant is nicely appointed. Plus, you can park anywhere on the street for free after 4pm. Gotta love small towns, right?
If you're going to Bowmanville, you may as well stop in at Norm's Deli and pick up some amazing pyrogies. They taste just like the ones I grew up on. So good.
I like Mr A's on King too, but I don't think the food is as good since Mr A retired.
My souvlaki is very good as well, according to my 3 guys.

I have been eyeing Norms for ages now. For sure I will get some perogies then! However I seriously doubt they will be as good as my aunts home made ones, but since she's not around anymore, Im willing to find a comparable substitute. Is Norm's just a take-out place?

I think they have a few seats, but it's not a typical deli like Ann's in Oshawa, where you can buy a pile of cold cuts.
I buy Norms pyrogies every Christmas, and you have to place your order a month in advance. They're that good!
I posted on my facebook last wek that I saw whole-wheat pyrogies in the grocery store last week. WTF? These marketing people will stop at nothing to make a buck.
A month in advance?? seriously? wow that's crazy. ok. Dumb question perhaps, but are these perogies cooked or do you have to cook or heat them youself? do they come with all the fixings???
The pyrogies are ready to eat. They're huge and delicious. I can't remember if they come with sour cream, because we just usually buy a few dozen and bring them home, where I always have sour cream in the fridge.
