Good God, some people are dumb

Heading up to catch the 5:53 pm (Union-Oshawa) train, I encountered a woman trying to tap her Presto pass on one of the paper-ticket stamp-punch machines.

She slapped her card half a dozen times in frustration and I stopped and told her she had to use the card reader machines in the outside corridor (of the Bay St. Teamway). She told me she was told any of the ticket machines take the card. I politely said she was misinformed and opened the door and pointed out a Presto machine to her.

Exasperated, she shoved her card into her purse and charged up the stairs mumbling that she doesn't have time "for this shit" and "that GO needs to get their act together".

I don't know about you but I'm pretty sure GO doesn't have time for her stupidity.

Isn't it obvious what machine is for what?

Well, the process does look kind'a complicated (which is why I don't have a p-card), but I do agree some people enroll/buy things they don't or can't be bothered reading up about. There was a women at Lakeshore this a.m. asking a whole pile of Qs about her p-card and why it wasn't working (at the top of her lungs, I might add). She finally told the attendant not to worry, she would read up on how to use it when she got to the office. Hmmm. Me thinks she should've read up on the use of the card BEFORE she bought it..Duh.

Some people would rather not use their common sense...it's such a rare commodity these days. Good grief, the machines say Presto right on them. Personally, I'm not switching over until I'm forced to. After 20 years of carrying a pass, how the heck will I remember to tap my card?

Stupidity isn't a reason to ride for free.
I bet she took a free ride home. Joanne?

The second anon raises a good point... I siwtched from a pass to Presto (mostly because I travel around the GTA as part of my job, and never have chnage for buses), and there's been a few times where I haven't tapped on/off.
