About that car on the tracks ...

I've learned that the people over at the Durham paper don't like their photos embedded into blogs (ie. no photoshopping) so here's a link to the photo of the car whose driver landed on the train tracks near Ajax causing service to come to a screeching halt over lunchtime today.

Maybe the driver was cut off but the driver was on the off-ramp when it happened (you know, when you have to SLOW down). It takes a lot of speed to go flying off a highway. I'm just sayin' ...

  1. I may be wrong, but from what I can tell from the photos and my ride home yesterday, there was no damagae to the 5' chain-link fence beside the rail line... so the car really did launch itself over the fence and onto the tracks.

    Shouldn't the Ministry of Transport put up barriers so something to stop vehicles that leave their roads ending up on rail tracks? After all, if a GO Train had hit the car, the occupents would be very dead. (Worst-case scenario would be something larger than a car doing this, causing the train to derail into the path of a train coming the other way...)
