To the sick person who left a kitten to die in the Oshawa GO Parking Lot. Rot in hell
Poor Jill. She saw the kitten before I did as we walked across the lot tonight after getting off the 5:20 Union-Oshawa LSE. She's a hardcore animal lover and the sight of this baby animal, its eyes half open, lying on its side, caused her to burst into tears.
I guess I was in shock myself because I couldn't believe what I was seeing. I didn't cry. I just got super angry. The kitten had no signs of obvious trauma. It didn't look like it had been hit by a car. It looked like it had been placed. Abandoned. Left for dead.
One of the CSAs from the station was heading over to where we were standing as Jill didn't want to leave until she knew the kitten would be picked up by an animal control agency. Turns out, numerous GO patrons had gone to the ticket counters to tell the GO employees about the gruesome find. Both the GO CSA and myself felt the kitten had been put there by some heartless person who had either killed it, or, for some reason, left the kitten in a hot car, where it died and then was left in the lot.
Where the Oshawa GO lot is located is not urban, nor residential. It's bounded by Highway 401, rail lines, industrial parks and a car dealership. It's extremely rare, according to the GO CSA I spoke to, to see stray cats wondering about. Rare.
You be the judge. This kitten was defenseless. Animals are meant to be loved, not left for dead in a commuter parking lot.

I saw it and was one of the people who went to the station to let the GO people know. They were telling me that people had been leaving their dogs in cars as they went to concerts and work this summer and on numerous occasions had to phone the police to rescue the animals so I wouldn't be surprised in the least if the kitten had been left locked in a car.
If people would be responsible pet owners in the first place and sterilize their pets, this wouldn't be an issue.
How sad :(
I hope the person who did this has the worst karma come back and bite them in the ass. How utterly cruel and heartless. Makes me angry.
I cried at my desk reading this story. But then again, I was just looking at kittens on the weekend thinking I was ready for a new one after putting my cat to sleep a year ago.
I hope whoever did this has it done to them. Threefold.
It literally makes me sick to my stomach reading stuff like this. So much for breakfast. *sniff* I want to rip the fingernails off of people who do these things.
Since there will unfortunately never be a shortage of cruel stupid people in this world what we really need to work on is changing our animal cruelty laws. They are not nearly severe enough.
:(
hey cj
do what u do best
stick with the funny stuff
peace
This is so fcuking sad. Poor thing. *sigh* Huge animal lover over here too and hearing that is just horrific. Some really, really sick people out there.
And who the hell leaves their animals in the car in the summer like this? That's what I don't understand. Would you sit in a car, windows up, in the blistering heat for hours? Didn't think so.
Rest in peace dear kitty :(
I swear I'd smash the window if I saw a dog in a hot car. Let them come and arrest me for vandalism. I say dog because I've never known a cat who goes for a ride in a car willingly! Who knows what happened here but no matter, how horrible. I think I will give my pup an extra big hug when I get home tonight.
Kharma's a bitch. Whoever is responsible will get their due punishment.
Are there no security cameras in that lot? I really hope there is a more innocent explanation like maybe the car parked there leaked some antifreeze and this poor little stray happened upon it and licked it up. Otherwise, yes, whoever did this should rot. :(
I couldn't imagine someone hurting a poor innocent little kitty F**&KEN LOOSER... shame on you for what you've done!!!!!

Even if the person responsible for this was caught......case law would ensure that they would get a slap on the wrists and likely no criminal record. I wish we had tougher laws for this kind of thing.
Just because you did not see any trauma does not mean that this kitten was not hit by a car and then crawled into the lot (or hit in the lot). As someone who works in rescue of all kinds of animals, it's crazy kitten season right now and they are running rampant around the GTA unattended. I have seen it all, trust me, and am as critical of humans as the next rescue person, but you cannot just assume that someone dumped this kitten in the GO lot intentionally; not with the oodles of stray kittens roaming around these days.
Regardless, I hope that someone took the kitten to the appropriate people. I cannot imagine leaving it in the lot, period, even if they said Animal Control was coming. That being said I recently drove 40 mins. each way to deliver a paralyzed squirrel to Toronto Animal Services.
If you find an injured animal and have the ability to take it yourself to one of these facilities (safely, of course - don't go snatching up random raccoon babies or anything!), I recommend doing so. Leaving a kitten in a parking lot to die while Animal Control comes (eventually) isn't really the best course of action. At least not to me. I am sure one of the many people that walked past this little soul could have stayed with it and/or put it in their car.
Hope it found a safe place to land :(
