Dear Rebeccah,
I am sorry to hear what happened to your father.
I would like to point out that my website is not about chanisaw. Is that an ethnic dish? Is it any good?
May I ask how old you are?

Dear Rebeccah,
I regret to inform "u" that I am not removing the cartoon. It is not meant to make fun (or offend) any of the following:

1)an ampuutee
2)(people who have) bin injured by a chainsaw accidnt like my dad who lost his leg and is on disability
3)people whove bin murdered

Let's focus on #3 for a second. How is this even possible?

I'm still waiting on Rebeccah's reply...

Poor girl. Daddy needs to buy her a dictionary with part of that disability cheque.

  2. CJ,
Imagine this girl at one of your shows back in the day?

    She'd bleed from the ears.

  3. Wow.. that was hard to read.

Is it bad of me that I had some banjo music going on in my head when I read this?

  4. I pictured a rocking chair. Oh, and a jug with "XXX" on it nearby. So ... no.

  5. CJ, your web site logo also makes all green circle people look like chainsaw murderers. I am offended on their behalf.

  6. @squiggles
I heard the same music too.

  7. Yay! I am glad many feel the same way about this!

  11. Why am I the only one that thinks she sounded like she was in her 20-something and uses English as a second language?

    ReplyDelete
  12. Something offensive on the internet? How can this be? If you don't agree with it, stop looking at it. Duh.

    ReplyDelete
  13. If English IS her second language, she can still use the magical tool that is *gasp* SPELLCHECK! And using "u" as "you" is not a symptom of a poor English, that's just bloody lazy.

  14. Then there's guy I saw in downtown Oshawa (that kinda says it all) riding on his bicycle with a chainsaw across the handlebars...really. Near King & Park.

Was he missing a leg and on disability?

She is using text speak guys and gals.
I am wondering how she feels ready all the comments. May be a good lesson in picking the battles that really matter. I think English is her first language. Anyone have teenagers?? If yes yes ask them about text speak
I hope that I have not made too many spelling or grammatical errors.

  18. I can tell you accurately and honestly that Rebeccah has not returned to this site. I use various metric and audience measurement tools and have come to recognize most of the repeat IPs and can see patterns of visits.

Rebeccah simply clicked on a link, saw the site for the first time, spent 0.47 seconds on it, jumped to a conclusion and sent a rather impulsive email.

I'm a veteran blogger. This isn't my first foray in dealing with the internet public at large and I'm used to what I call "drive-by" emails.

At the same time, it's akin to heckling. Sure, it makes some people uncomfortable and others find it entertaining.

I suppose I should stick a disclaimer somewhere warning people they may become the site's material.

This isn't a grammar contest, nor am I holding a spelling bee. I realize she is writing in the tone of her "people". It's the context of her email I found ludicrous.

Participation on a blog is voluntary. I'm not running a Sunday School here.

  19. @ nurse,

She could have been talkin txt but why didn't she shorten offensive or disgusting.

    Because she is grammatically challenged!

    ReplyDelete
  20. @Vanessa: I think you're wrong, Im pretty sure she's just a retarded teenager. :)

@ Fred: LMAO @ guy with one leg riding a bike.

BAHAHAHA!! this thread and all the great comments made my day!

  21. No disclaimers - it would take away the fun of this blog. Or if you do perhaps consider warning off people who take life way too seriously.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Cj so you track who visits the site and from where and when and how often?
    kinda creepy...

  23. Actually Google Analytics does that for me. Anyone with a Blog from Blogger, owned by Google, has access to metrics.
I find it helpful to know who my audience is. Not that I plan to sell ad space anytime soon but when the odd journalist asks, it's nice to say I have 1200 regular readers. And gain about 20 - 25 new readers a week.
It also helps for me to call BS on stuff. Such as people who claim to be regular readers ... when in fact, at the precise time they've crafted their email or comment, it's the first time they've been to the site from said IP address. Of course, this isn't written in stone as regular readers can read from different devices but metrics software looks for these patterns.

Facebook know everything about you. Everything. I don't know what's creepier ... random blogging or entering all of your personal information into a site's database (your Facebook account) where it can be retained and used to make millions of dollars that isn't shared with you.

  24. @nurse, text-speak yes, but ignorant just the same.

And Squiggles, you are so right, I'm betting there is definitely a picnic table on Rebeccah's front lawn. And what's with the cutesy spelling of her name??? People, (yes, you mother's dressed in Lululemon driving your European cars) PLEASE spell your kid's names the good old-fashioned way, don't add extra letters to try to make them unique.
