Some of you already know about the air-rail link Metrolinx and GO Transit have going on, right? It's a 3-km rail spur to Pearson International Airport from the Georgetown line that will take people right to Terminal 1.
There's an article in the Toronto Star today about the woman heading up this project. She's the woman behind the breakthrough concept of buying coffee and gas. At the same time!
Even more groundbreaking is she promises no luxury will be spared in designing the coaches that will ferry passengers to the airport, promising great attention to detail right down to the cup holders.
Lady, you had me at cup holders. For the on-board refreshments. ON-BOARD REFRESHMENTS!
The rail link will make two stops from Union, one at Dundas and the other at Weston. Fares will range from $15 to $35.
Oh, and there will be luggage racks. So as to avoid this nonsense.
Good Christ, I need to go lie down.

MEDIC! I need my smelling salts!
I won't believe it until I see it. They've been trying to build this for 30 years. She used to work for a crown corporation too - yikes!
And how are those intrepid travelers going to get to one of the rail links? GO Train of course! The mess you envision going away, will actually increase! Have you ever thought about flying with Porter Airlines from the Island Airport?
I think this is great!
All I can say is: "Oh you fancy, huh?"
Island Airport means lugagge ON THE STREETCAR. 'nough said.
This should be a GO Train line like any other (albeit with shorter/lighter trains).
What, no onboard hot tub and massage service?
@ Dan-1: That is coming later, once the ridership is there.
Along with the full-service bar.
Full service bar! Full service bar! Full service bar!
Yup, because it's ALWAYS gin o'clock when travelling.
And rum thirty. Don't forget wine o'clock.
