The great GO Train Burlington derailment of 1989 - no one injured
For the railheads. I have quite a few railheads who follow the site. Having never owned a train set as a kid, the fascination is lost on me. But I used to wonder what it would be like to be a hobo and ride in boxcars and have a dog named Hunter.

ReplyDeletei don't know how you mange to be so witty but i lol'd at your hobo fantasy.
I came across this a few years ago, and searched quite a bit for more information before I got bored. It seems that this youtube video is the only evidence that this actually happened.
ReplyDeleteDoesn't that seem a little strange?
I hope I am making you excited about purchasing Valium for when you use the service.

ReplyDeleteThe railheads will come. They will explain. Give it time.
This derailment happened near or around Burloak Dr, someone stole a truck and left it on the tracks at a rural grade crossing in front of the approaching GO train.
ReplyDeleteAndrae, nope. Empty train, no passengers, no fatalities, and a time when the media didn't jump at every cat stuck in a tree. I'm sure not many know of an even more horrifying incident in the 70's when a GO train demolished a TTC bus stuck on a crossing, killing a number of passengers.
ReplyDeleteThe railheads never disappoint.
ReplyDeleteInfo about the 1975 crash is online.
