No more handwritten signs ghetto-taped to the glass stairwell enclosures on the train platforms telling people receptacles are available downstairs. Like people actually thought, "Oh my bad" and hauled ass back downstairs to throw out their crap. Fail. They threw it on the tracks.

Did you ever hear a rationale for the receptacles downstairs only policy?

I was told it was an effort to reduce crowding on the platforms. Still a fail.
ReplyDeleteI thought it was a security thing to prevent someone from placing a bomb in the trash. Seemed like they got rid of the trash cans about the same time as the G20 fiasco.
ReplyDeleteI thought G20 originally as well. I only spoke to one GO janitor about it. He said it was a space concern.
ReplyDeleteIf it was G20, it sure took a long time for someone to haul these back up to the platforms. G20 was June 2010. That's 14 months ago.

There's a whole bunch of garbage and recycling bins, probably the old ones that were once on the platform, stacked up outside the west end of the Skywalk, easily visible from the train.

The TTC replaced their ceramic barrel-type ones a number of years ago with the clear plastic bags because of bomb concerns.
