If my imaginary abuela was an enforcer of parking courtesy, she'd be crossing herself and screaming, "Por Dios!" and shaking her fist in Ajax

Park how I want to? Absolutely.
This is super awesome. Ditch Parking. Guess it was a "last-ditch" effort.
This one below is my favourite. The white SUV is parked right in the intersection so the guy in the burgundy sedan on the left mounted the curb so as to leave room. See, Parking Donkeys have some manners.
A plea to take the bus distributed at the station:
A map showing the Parking Donkeys where to park, which they ignore.
At least they're all lined up in a pretty row. I shudder at what winter will bring for you Ajax folks.
I'm surprised people didn't just park on the sidewalk. Sky's the limit, right?
This pictorial comes from Donna. Thanks Donna! Comments by Yours Truly.

  1. You're very welcome CJ :)

Btw, I should have given more details regarding pic #3. the white SUV was not parked there, he was driving out as I was and happened to be in the middle of the intersection when I snapped the pic. My intention was to capture the two curb donkeys.

  2. I stand corrected. I'll leave the description - just for the drama ... (jazz hands)

  3. Amazing! I see this every day. It's one of the reasons why I am glad I don't take an earlier train. Just about got trapped in there after the 4.10 dropped me off (I left for an appt).

I did see an attendent earlier this week with a walkie talkie and walking away from the "ditch" parking job beside the car lot. I had my fingers crossed that they were calling tow trucks. No such luck could be had.

  4. I saw what I think was a Go employee taking pictures of all the ditch parkers last week.

  5. "You people" on the LSE are animals!!! Move west where we are more civilized and park accordingly, ohhhhh wait, because we actually have excess spots!!!
When I decided a couple of years ago to return to the wonderful world of commuting I first staked out my station of choice in the early morning, mid afternoon and dinner time to check the parking and traffic and then I went ahead with the job search. From the time I get off the train to the time I am on the road is 5 minutes (tops) AND I don't run, I take my time.

  6. @lswgirl: I thought about that. But then I found that I could walk to and from the station in about 30mins (free exercise) and decided to deal with it.

What bugs me with living in the West end is that you always seem to be commuting into the sun. The sun and I do not get along all that well.

  7. I get to Ajax station early enough to get a proper spot so no ditch parking for me :) I do have a bit of sympathy for those ditch parkers though, the construction of the parking structure is not helping matters and it's not due to be completed until 2013!! God help us. I think I will start taking the bus when the snow starts falling.

  8. People have been parking in the ditch at Ajax long before they blocked off all those spots for the parking structure.

I got to the lot late this morning, almost 7:10 and there were still a fair amount of empty spots in the first south lot.

Upon walking to the stairs I noticed on car illeaglly parked right next to the stairs. Crap like that makes me made because that is SHEER LAZINESS! People's sense of entitlement just kills me.

I also noticed that they have blocked off the new south lot with pylons that say "lot full" on them Im guessing at some point inthe mornings and now people are illegally parking along that new road going into the new south lot (I forget what it is called)> I saw last night that every car on that road was ticketed yet none of the other illegal parkers were ticketed. Im guessing it was the city who ticketed those cars.

  9. Overflow Lot... or as I term it, the extra-south south lot.

I think the school called the town to ticket the illegal parkers along that road.

On a side note, I had to exit the south lot that way last night because two yahoos parked on either side of the road down to the old exit and I couldn't turn that tight to get through.

  10. How I wish I drove a shitbox. I would squeeze through all those illegal parkers and purposely take out all their side mirrors!

ahh yes, that makes sense about the school.
