So this morning, on the 6:53 from Whitby, I drag myself to the train as per usual and sit in the two seats in the midsection train when this woman sits next to me and starts doing her make-up. Not just her mascara or lipstick but her entire face. Which is ok if you're running late or whatever, but then she pulls out the blotting papers and starts wiping the oil slick off of her face. I think I vomited in my mouth a bit. There are some things that should be kept private and well that is definitely one of them.
Sincerely
A grossed out Whitby Girl

Had one of these on the LSW this morning. I was waiting for a 'medical emergency' when she whipped out the mascara wand. The train rocks a LOT on that stretch of track.
Seriously, use the restroom when you get to the office for makeup...
This is the most ridiculous webiste I have ever come across. Are you serious? Can't you people grow up and realize that the world doesn't revolve around you and your shit? Maybe some of us have disabled kids or are single moms and the only time we have to do makeup is on the train or on the bus. God gave you eyelids, learn to close them.
I once had a woman approach me on my train and ask me to put my makeup on at work as it was bothering her that I was doing my lips.
I made sure to keep going. All the way to Union too.
Some of you need to stop worrying about what other people are doing. Just like the man in the other story who played a game on his train. Who cares! Buy headphones. Buy a book. Buy a DS. Learn to distract yourself.
My mama was a single mom. We used the Queen streetcar when I was a kid for me to get to school and her to work.
I don't ever remember a time where my mother stepped out of our house without makeup and she would have never applied her makeup in public.
Touch up with a compact? Yes. Full-on face? No.
My mom is 92 now and she still puts lipstick and eyeshadow on everyday. She would be appalled to learn that young ladies are leaving the house without their "face" on.
As for your remarks about how people need to worry about their own shit and not other people's shit. We aren't rolling to work here in our cars where it's OUR space. We roll along in SHARED space and since we all have to share it, we owe it to ourselves and others to be respectful. I don't like it when a person grooms themselves in front of me in my own bathroom. It makes me uncomfortable and I find it awkward. So I most certainly don't like it on a train.
(sarscasm=ON) I don’t understand why some people think it’s NOT okay to do their makeup on the train!! Would they be the same type to give me cut-eye if I pulled out my Schick razor and shaved my face on the train? I promise I’d try to have a little Tupperware bowl with some water to swish my blade around a little bit, and offer a meek smile and a “sorry” if any of my grooming mess happened to find its way to their lap. Chances are good that none would spill on anyone else...not 100% guaranteed, but you know, close enough. And that’s okay with me! (sarcasm=off)
My old roommate used to use blotting papers all the time. She once did it when were at a restaurant. While she was sitting at the table. After we had finished eating. And left it on the table. GROSS.
Tim K,
+100!
