Thanksgiving

Each year, due to my husband's blended family, we are subjected to Thanksgiving weekends I have dubbed The Tour de Bird. There is no rest for me. We are expected to be in Toronto, St. Catharines and Beeton during a three-day span. I'm also subjected to a rainbow of different personalities. Interacting with my mother, who gets so worked up over this food holiday, requires an incredible amount of rum. To prepare, I usually start drinking at 6pm on Friday and don't stop til about 4pm on Monday.

Unlike last year, I find fellow commuters to be less excited or perplexed about their turkey plans this year and for this, I am grateful.

Have a nice long weekend, you turkeys.

  1. I'm so thankful I only have 1 dinner to attend, and it's on Saturday. My brother does an amazing turkey on his BBQ.

Hope you survive the weekend, CJ. Have a good one!

  4. If I had my way, I'd do away with this holiday entirely. As my husband said, one day all these people will be dead and it will be just me, him and our daughter and a whole lotta peace and quiet. Harsh, but true. Our families really need to learn to let things go.

Amazing how it remembers who I am in that box!

Well okay my darling daughter. I don't know what to say to that. But I do know that none of the people you wish dead are related to me!

This situation can be easily rectified through divorce. All you girls divorce your husbands and then the only place you need to go is here with me and mommy!

    I know a good lawyer.

  6. Better retract your post C.J. or you're getting cut out of the Will!

Hope you all enjoy your meals made in regulation-size casseroles!

  8. A colleague of mine told me an absolutely disgusting story about some chicken breasts he bought recently, so now I'm off poultry. For a while anyway. Thanks for ruining my Thanksgiving, Anthony.
    I'll still drink though.
