Some GO Transit service could be affected by a potential labour disruption as early as Monday Oct.24th. While we remain hopeful that a settlement can be reached, a contingency plan is in place to maximize GO Services during a labour disruption and minimize inconvenience to passengers.
In the event of a labour disruption, GO Train service will continue to operate but there would be no GO Bus service. Stations and parking lots would remain open.
We are committed to keeping you in the know and ask that you check our website at www.gotransit.com as well as monitor local news media for updates on the situation in the event you need to make alternate arrangements. These might include local transit or carpools. Check out Smart Commute's free online ride matching service at www.carpoolzone.ca. We appreciate your understanding and apologize for any inconvenience.

I am trying to view this as "Better late than never".
Maybe they finally realised that no matter what they do a strike is inevitable so have broken their code of silence.
So much for keeping us "in the know".
But what about the union people that came on here to tell us the complete opposite?
@Squiggles.
True.
When they say stations will remain open, does that mean we'll be able to buy tickets or should I buy a November pass today?
I'd buy a November pass today.
Sounds like I am buying my pass tomorrow.
or perhaps put it off and don't buy one at all.....just sayin'
What is their contingency plan? That the trains will keep rolling? What about contingency for bus service? Local transit won't cross the picket lines; it's gonna be ugly at Oshawa. During the DRT strike, GO buses let us off at the lights and it was a miracle that no one was hit or killed.
GO wants to keep things nice and light and positive. Bottom line, we''ll be on our own and it's every man and woman for himself.
I like the "we expect GO Train service will continue to operate" line. Will Bombardier's union cross the bus picket lines? So, GO may expect the trains to run, but the reality may be something else, something very ugly for us, the paying passengers.
it wont happen
What won't happen?
The strike, other unions crossing the picket lines?
the strike
@ Anon,
Care to pass on this weeks winning lottery number aswell?
that way nobody on this site needs to worry about work on monday.
The contingency plan is this:
All non-union members have taken a breif 'training course' in ticket selling. Yes, that's right... Step right up, folks. Don't forget to 'pay' for your monthly passes here...
It's gonna be a sh*t show.
