Well, apparently we can all sleep easy tonight. GO strike a no go

I realize I'm pointing to Twitter as the source for good news but apparently we can expect normal GO bus service tomorrow and an easy commute in.

Of course, this is little comfort for those who rely on York Region's VIVA service to get to GO stations

Here's what I've got:

@ThisCrazyTrain tentative deal for now no strike for now

  2. why does it always have to be right at the final hour? this f**ked up my whole weekend and i sacrificed sleep for the news. it's not right. if Metrolinx had a number in mind, they had that number on friday. sooo sick of unions and companies and all these stupid mind games. grow up. pay people what the job is worth, what the industry dictates and do away with the bullshit drama.

  3. I read on the Get on the GO facebook page there won't be a strike: a tentative deal was reached (albeit at the last minute...)

  4. Official word is good. Even if it's a tad later than the news... and Twitter. I don't subscribe the Facebook group. I used to but I found it useless.

  5. Uh, it wasn't even the person running that Facebook page who updated the wall. It was a subscriber, so guess what Barb, they're still useless. At least they provide a forum where customers can go to tell other customers what's going on.

  7. And I had my angry voice all ready for this morning! Then I found out on the way in. But I only take the train so wasn't really affected.

At least we now know that fares are going up in the new year.

As for "Official Word": look at how long it took for Metrolinx to actually release their statement. This past Thursday. And from what I understand their delayed trains, etc. email only came about after customers started doing something similar.

  10. I actually think that the GO people should be paid what VIVA people earn not the other way around.

  12. I'm with Squiggles, I was ready for a fight if there were pickets at the stations! Because pissing the people is one way to get them on your side! haha But sadly Squiggles, we won't get that chance!

And you are sooooo right, look for a fare increase now!
