Just another day on the TTC

Amazerballs. So much for staying well back behind the yellow platform line, huh?
Thanks to Dan D. for the pic.

  1. I wish I still had the picture from the time the TTC went 'out of service' and was emptying trains at Dundas West station (a single platform on either side like this picture). There is only 1 exit from the westbound platform and it took me 45 minutes to get from one end to the other. By the time the 6th or 7th train rolled in to empty passengers, they were pulling away "out of service" with people still on them because they couldn't physically get off the trains. People (idiots) were actually jumping onto the tracks between trains and running down the length to get closer to the exit. What a shitshow that was...

This kind of thing happens ALL the time. There's very rarely a morning or afternoon where there isn't a delay or station bypass/turnaround being announced.

  3. As a daily user of the TTC, it's an obvious fact that standing on the edge of the platform and looking down the tunnel helps the train to get there quicker. This is even more effective if there's only a few people on the platform, and they all do it.
In the case of streetcars and buses, one has the added bonus of being able to walk into the middle of the road to get the bus or streetcar to the stop quicker.

  5. At one point in time I would have said us GO folk are a more civilized bunch... but if that were completely true these days, CJ wouldn't have any material for this site. *sigh* I miss the good ole days.
