Did you hear about the Ottawa bus driver who allegedly lost his mind when an autistic man began to recite a play he wrote aloud on the bus? What makes me sad, angry and upset is this man felt forced to tell the driver he had a mental illness. Autism is NOT a mental illness. This is all kinds of wrong!
The video doesn't prove it was the driver who was yelling but who else could it be? The man who was the subject of the tirade, 20-year-old Matthew Taronno, told the CBC it was the driver. The union says there's no proof. What!? So the word of an autistic man has no merit?! This is ridiculous.
If the "harassment" or "noise" from this passenger was so intolerable, why not just pull over? Call the police, but to launch into a profanity-laced tirade is unprofessional and deplorable. It's disgusting.
The Toronto Star has more on this story.

The person yelling mentions "opening the fucking door" so one would assume it is the bus driver. A passenger wouldn't say that. The poor guy says sorry on the way out too. No one should ever talk to anyone this way, disgusting.
The union leader "felt the YouTube video provided no proof it was the driver doing the yelling and added the passenger who shot the video with his cellphone contravened a local bylaw prohibiting taking video or photos on OC Transpo property."
I love how union meatheads distort bylaws in an effort to protect one asshole out of what is really a good bunch of people. Provided the video or photo isn't used for commercial purposes, people can film what they want, when they want.
When will we 'get' mental illness in all its sad forms and treat those afflicted with the compassion they deserve....no matter how difficult it is???
Before PW freaks out about extra personalities, the double post was purely accidental, not some sad joke about schizophenia...sorry
LOL~!
Again, it always goes back to the union and the way they blindly support their membership. If I did that at my place of employment, I'd be out the door in seconds!
Skin man, why would you say we should treat those with mental illness with compassion, then make some lame joke about schizophrenia and double personalities? To begin with, schizophrenia has nothing to do with a split personality, that is a misrepresentation left over from hollywood movies. People with mental illness face an uphill battle against stigma every day. So really, a lame joke about mental illness in the same post about compassion?
@kary - seriously??
