Squiggles squares off with a jerk
Had a stand-off with a jerk yesterday on the 5:20pm LSE. He decided that him and his friends were "too good" to disembark on Platform 11 like everyone else. Nope, instead he thought that they should be given passage through the mob of people on 12 waiting to board the train.
Words were exchanged. I pushed my way through the door, putting people off-balance. Jerk #1 decided to start throwing out insults which resulted in me yelling through the train that the doors open on 11 for a reason.
Anyhoodles, my temper seethed the entire ride home and I crafted this delightful Shout Out to disperse some of the irritation.
"Doors open on Platform 11 for people to disembark. People waiting on Platform 12 are to board the train. Why would you think it was a good idea to push through those waiting people to get off the train and not walk another 10 feet to the stairs? All you proved was that you are a self-centred, self-entitled arrogant jerk!"

I know it doesn't excuse bad behaviour, but some people try to jump over to the 5:10 if it hasn't left when the 5:20 pulls in. Still, a simple "excuse me, I'd like to catch that train" would go a long way.
ReplyDeleteLeaf fans. Can't live with them...
ReplyDeleteHave similar problem on my express train home, but those passengers that have to squeeze through those of us waiting to board MIGHT be transferring to the non-express train on the opposite side of the platform.
The thing that gets me about these cross platform disembarkers is that some of the ones coming downstairs are just lemmings. AND then there are the boarders who want to go upstairs and are waiting for the disembarkers to disembark. They just stand in the way so anyone wanting to sit on the main level has to wait and watch the seats fill in from the other set of doors.
The 5:20 LSE train is 2 stops, then express to Pickering. The 5:10 LSE is express to Pickering and 99% of the time has already left the station before the 5:20 enters. So, no they were not crossing to an express train.
ReplyDeleteAnd I doubt they were also not leaf's fans. This is was on overhearing some of their conversation, the lack of arena-appropriate clothes, etc.
The only valid reason is if you transferring from the 1720 to the 1733 (in order to go Eglinton/Guildwood/Rouge Hill). Otherwise it's just rude.
