I think the Toronto transit public is going a little too far with their complaints

What if this driver is a diabetic and his blood sugar was low?

If I saw a TTC operator eating a candy bar, I don't think I'd lose my mind. It's getting a little petty now, don't you think?

TTC investigating driver accused of eating chocolate bar

TORONTO STAR - The TTC is investigating a bus driver for allegedly eating a chocolate bar while driving.

The incident happened on the Lambton bus route 30 on Thursday Jan. 5 at 2 p.m., said TTC spokesman Danny Nicholson.

“There, I guess, was a suggestion made that one of our operators was chewing a candy bar on his bus,” said Nicholson, who later clarified the treat was of the chocolate variety.

“The TTC is aware of the incident and the investigation is ongoing.”

It is against TTC policy to eat while driving. “TTC operators are not permitted to eat food while the vehicle is in motion,” said Nicholson.
Define what kind of food? A hamburger and fries, I get. But a candy bar?

You sure this isn't a story from the Onion newspaper?

I am thinking it is not so much the fact that he ate the candy bar, but that the puublic are fed up with how many (not all) of the TTC or even the GO (yeah, I am still torqued) treat the public as walking wallets or worse, "the enemy".

Unless the eating of the bar affecting the driving, I see no problem with it. So hopefully the driver opened up the bar at a red light. I know I weave on my street in the morning when I try to put my mittens on after I leave the driveway, the same will happen with a bus.

What kind of chocolate bar was it? I'd be okay with, let's say, a Snickers. But if it was a Crunchie? That's crossing a line.

Crunchie bars are disgusting. Agreed.

I don't ride GO Transit or TTC, but where I take the bus the bus drivers eat all the time. :/ I don't really mind, but I can see how some people might. But the candy bar thing is ridiculous!

This post reminds of me of the time I took the TTC from a banquet. I had a sh*t ton of leftover, homemade (and very delicious) chicken and schnitzel. I offered it to my bus driver and he didn't hesitate to help himself. I'll admit the safety aspect didn't even occur to me.

@Anon
uh, the bus IS the ttc.

@ Anon (Jan 14):

Only if you take the bus within Toronto. Believe it or not, but other jurisdictions have public transit and are NOT called the TTC.
