What in Flipper hell?

It's been a while since I've had an Off Topic post. Well here it is.

YAHOO - An Australian woman has left her job to pursue her real dream of becoming a mermaid.

After seeing a video online on 'mermaiding,' Mermaid Ayla (as she introduces herself) was inspired to create her own tail, purchase a monofin and learn the all-important dolphin kick, necessary for any budding mermaid.

  1. Oh Sweet Jebus, please let there be some sort of swinsuit bottom/underwear attached to that tail.

And on another note: WTH? Why has no one dragged her off to see her shrink? Because apparently she is off her meds.

  2. As a native Floridian, I grew up with Weeki Wachee mermaids. They were usually more in shape, though :(

  4. Saw this post. Had this “WTF?” look on my face the whole time. Then I saw some other videos at the bottom of the viewer and clicked on this one (found also on youtube so that I could link it). I have a dog, who’s both brilliant and retarded simultaneously. But compared to the canine in this video, my dog is more the latter than the former.

  5. Mermaid Ayla has nothing to asamed of! She is not only expressing her creativity in a whole new way, she is leading a fantastical dream. I really wish people would research more about a topic before they make assumptions about a person they don't even know. The mer community stands behind her! We love you Ayla! <3

  6. She was wearing a flesh-coloured bodysuit that had scales airbrushed on the top half. She also has no idea why the journalist included her putting on her tail because it's not relevant nor glamorous but hey, anything the media would wanna put in to add sensationalism, right? And she didn't 'Ditch her job', she resigned, gave notice and is still on good terms with her old job. She also never used welfare money as a lot of people suggested. She saved up her pennies and then left her job to follow her dream for a couple of months. She's working full time again, but still pursues her dreams. The journalist also got it wrong in that she never spent 'day in,day out' on beaches like some hobo. I also hear she's lost a lost of weight since then too. - The Mermaid Herself.
