Just when you think ya heard them all, GO comes up with a new reason for 'why you late'!

Union 15:13 - Oshawa 16:14 Train - On The Move
The Union 15:13 - Oshawa 16:14 train trip departed Union 43 minutes late due to a passenger medical emergency, and a number of uncooperative passengers. This train will operate express to Pickering, then make all stops to Oshawa. Passengers detraining at stops from Union to Rouge Hill were accommodated on the Union 15:45 - Oshawa 16:46 train trip.

The hell does that EVEN MEAN?!
Did someone not step up and play doctor?

I saw that and was going to forward. I canNOT believe that after yesterday's boondoggle that they (aka GO) has the audacity to blame passengers for their incompetence.

And that is how it comes across.

The medical emergency I can understand. I don't know why it takes so long to clear a train to proceed after a medical emergency. How much time does it take to escort a person off the train.

More details please...

I agree - they are using us as excuses now for their incompetency

Maybe the door donkeys refused to get out of the way?

I was going to forward this to you but I see you're on top of it. :o) This is a first - blaming uncooperative passengers.

Probably them door donkeys who block the way so peeps can't get on the train. Grrr. They're all over the 4:10 train too.

If it was door donkeys, then call 'em out ... "and a number of passengers who refused to stand clear of the doors to allow emergency crews access to the coach". Call it what it is!

My sister and I were on that train. The delay was due to more than a medical emergency (a woman fainted, but thankfully is OK). Once we were told that the medical emergency had been dealt with, they then announced a further delay due to "an operation issue." A large group of school kids and their chaperones boarded at Union, headed for Guildwood. There was a great deal of mis-communication by the GO authorities. They made 3 separate announcements stating that the train would be express to Pickering. After each announcement the school group and other passengers would leave the train, only to be told to re-board!!!! Everyone was getting really frustrated, especially the conductor (we were in the accessible car). Eventually all the passengers received final confirmation of the express to Pickering and they all left. While we were finally well underway, they made a further announcement stating that a special stop would be made at Guildwood after all, to accommodate any students who may have been separated. So we get to Guildwood, only to find that NOT ONE student had been left behind!! We finally got to Oshawa just before 5 pm.

That's not the end of the story, though. That same trip started from Burlington at 2:30 pm (we boarded there, from the Niagara Falls GO bus). We experienced a 15-minute delay just east of Long Branch thanks to a "switch problem." Needless to say, we were more than delighted to get home!!!!

Considering Dot's comments, it would appear that yes, GO Transit did use people who boarded a train intended to stop at Guildwood, who got on the right train only to be told to get off (and did) for the delay.

Ridiculous.

On another note, I'm prone to fainting. All I need is a bench and water and I'm okay. Escort the fainters off the train. We don't need to sit there holding up 1000 of people while we wait for the blood to rush back to our heads.

I just got off the phone with a GO rep, to complain about the tone of the e-mail. The rep confirmed that the "uncooperative passengers" were the Guildwood school folks. I told him I didn't appreciate them being blamed for something that was completely beyond their control!!!!

Can't believe GO would hold a bunch of school children accountable. Really unprofessional email.

Wow! That is a new low. Blaming CHILDREN for the delay. It is not their fault that they chose to ride the GO that day to their function. But I betcha the school will reconsider.

Thank you for sharing Dot.

Last week, on TTC (60 Steeles West, East Bound) our driver was 10-15 minutes late. Decided she would STOP at Dufferin. Someone felt sick, pushed their way to the back door, asked for it to be open (while we were waiting...) and proceeded to throw up the second he stepped off the bus. The driver continued to wait another 5-7 minutes. Another bus FINALLY picked up the sick passenger (who was waiting outside the bus) and passed our bus, who than started driving again!!!
I - and several others - were NOT happy, and voiced our unhappyness. I even sent a message via TTC's website about it, that will probably be ignored.

I saw that editorial about 'uncooperative passengers' too and wondered what it meant. GO Transit should be ashamed for posting that and should apologize to everyone with an explanation. Ha ha, I guess after that they'll give refunds and ice cream, too.

Boohoo "I got home 45 minutes late!" Took me 2 hrs and 13 min. From downtown to pickering in my vehicle, with no reason. Count your blessings you have the option of taking public transportation.

Downtown? To Pickering? Guess what? The GO Train is an option for you?

Anonymous: for some of us, public transportation is NOT an option. It's a necessity. Not everyone has the luxury of owning a car, especially in these troubled times. Obviously a medical emergency will delay a train and I understand that, but GO's miscommunication and the fact that they've blamed the school children is inexcusable.
