No dice using the PATH through the RBC building to Union station

Help! I'm stuck in the Starbucks and can't swim out (queue family of ducks swimming by ... )

Look! A waterfall!

Union Station is also shut down. GO service is running. Just avoid the TTC part.

Emails from peeps tell me the water smells and looks like sewage. What a mess! - Thanks to Jill and @alanamccarthy

The flood has generated some funny memes. Sharks!

  1. Yep, I was out (well actually "in") and about at lunch and they wouldn't let anyone past the TD Centre. They were telling people if they worked at Royal Bank Plaza they would have to enter at street level. What a mess!

    1. They have also closed off access to Union from Brookfield Place. There are police directing traffic (dont try to cross on a green unless you want you get yelled at) and a GO employee is telling everyone to use the Bay East Teamway to access platforms. Ignore him as Bay West Teamway is accessible, plus he waits until you've crossed to the west side of the street, in the rain, before telling you to use the east side.

  3. I am SO glad I checked the news before I left. I was able to get out early and managed to avoid the crush of people by taking Yonge (at Queen) all the way to Front and got on Platform 3 through the Bus Terminal.

  4. Yup there was sewage in that mix as well. Yuck! I couldn't get to Royal Bank Plaza from TD Centre. So I walked outside down Bay St. to Front, along Front and took the wooden path to the front of Union. Gads, some of those boards were spongy feeling. Thankfully, the rain had stopped and there was just the wind to contend with. What a mess!

  8. A) I am extremely happy I ran to Union to load up the ole Presto card at 11:26 am. Sounds like I *justmissed* the fun!

    B) Also ran away from work early - no rain, but wind! - and went in through the front of Union. Saw the cops and imagine hoards of people trying to get up to their platforms and went: nah-uh, ain't happening.

Still, I had hopes that it was only the storm sewer that broke. But as I seem to have been very psychic with the news last week, can't say I am surprised that it was more chunky.

    PS: Love the sharks!
