From May 1 to August 31, I biked my kid to daycare every morning and biked back to the house to shower and change before running to catch the GO bus.
Minus a few days of bad weather, some sick days and vacation, I biked a total of 85 days and managed to cover 280 kilometers. I lost about 13 pounds - not great, but better than gaining.
Very few people believed I could do it. But I did it, and I hated every second of it. Towing 100 pounds (the kid plus the weight of the trailer) was awful. I won't miss it.
My husband's hours change with the seasons and so he's at a start time where he can do daycare drop off which means I don't have to pedal anymore.
I'm not sure what we'll do next Spring. I really don't want to buy a car.
I really don't care right now. I'm just glad to be done with the cycling. For now.
Oh yes, I may do this again next Spring. I'm friggen crazy.

Seriously, congratulations! 13lbs - nice.
Glad to hear. My cycling season just started again - down to the GO station for a bus at 6 evry morning (about 6 kms), then home direct in the afternoon (about 12 kms). This will last until the snow flies...
Well done, my friend. WELL DONE.
Well done!
Congratulations, Cindy! You set a goal, and you followed through on it. It would have been easy to give up, because you "hated every second of it", but you didn't. That's what is paramount; you didn't give up. Do you think you made an impression on your daughter (sorry, I'm not partial to the word "kid" -- colour me old-fashioned). Considerations for next Spring: Triathlon? Iron Man? Full marathon? Have you seen the following video?

I hate to say this but if you feed your child, she'll be even heavier in the spring. Just something to look forward to.
PS. I work out like a demon and I can't shift 13 lbs. Way to Go!
Thirteen pounds - that is great! And I'll bet your legs are toned as well from all that exercise. Plus you set a good example for your child.
I think you deserve - whatever makes you happy. A drink, ice cream, cake, all of the above.
Hi Peter,
I use the word "kid" with great affection.
I am a larger person so 13 pounds is only noticeable by myself but in regards to Dib's comment, I did notice that the shape of my legs improved and I lost some chunk around the knees.
I haven't decided if I'm going to incorporate bike riding into an evening routine. It gets darker in the mornings now and it will get darker earlier at night, too.
You should be extremely proud of losing 13 lbs. That's fantastic!
