Saw a newly painted GO bus today

According to wikipedia, the GO green that we all know and love has an interesting factoid:
GO green was the color used for the brand of GO Transit, the regional commuter service in the Greater Toronto Area. Between 1967 and 2013, the brand and color that has adorned each of its train, buses, and other property generally remained unchanged.[63] It also matched the shade of green used on signs for highways in Ontario. In July 2013, GO Transit updated its look to a two-tone colour scheme.[64]

New Colours are butt ugly.
ReplyDeleteAs our LSW rolled westward past the Mimico yard yesterday, I saw a "re-branded" locomotive. In the bright sunlight the neon green looked sickly. I'm not impressed. Had Metrolinx replaced the MTO highway sign green with a rich metallic emerald, the results would have been better, IMO.

While I realise that the paint job will look different in pictures opposed to real life, I have to wonder if it is actually that hideous?

ReplyDeletei understand the go trains getting re done, the present scheme dates back to 1978 so it was time to update them, the buses, not so much, considering it took them long enough to get all buses into the more recent scheme this one replaced....
ReplyDeleteI'm not concerned about the cost of painting the buses and trains, this is part of regular maintenance. What I want to know if how much they paid the ad agency to come up with the new colours. Remember when OLG paid $190,000 to drop the 'C'.
ReplyDeleteGO didn't use any agencies for this brand change. It was all done internally using their own marketing department.
ReplyDeleteI saw one of the coaches last evening. The LSW was pulling in on track 12 when the LSE was heading out on 13. The paint job is heinous. And it actually hurt my eyes. I couldn't focus on the image. Between the neon and the glaring sun: ouch.
