While the lady across from me lapsed into a coma, a very small crusty piece of mucus had attached itself to one of her nose hairs and popped in and out of her nose like a whack-a-mole with each inhale.
This went on like clockwork for most of the train ride. I struggled to contain my anxiety of where this piece of DNA would eventually land should its detach itself and tried to concentrate on the episode of Breaking Bad I was watching.
She woke up just outside of Union, unaware that this piece of mucus was dangling from her nose. She got out her phone and made a call. I managed to catch her eye and I made a motion with my hand to my nose to indicate she had an "issue". She just looked at me funny and then looked away. When the train stopped, I dug around in my purse for Kleenex because I couldn't take it anymore. If it was me, I would want to know.
While I was doing that she finally noticed what was hanging out of her nose and I watched in horror as she snatched it between her fingers, rolled it and then flung it into the aisle as she exited the quad.
Ugh.
