Sorry, did you say it was cold?

This was without the windchill. The "feels like" temperature was -25C. Never before had I been so happy to see a GO bus and to see a GO bus that was on time like I was this morning.

I had flashbacks to when I was living in Calgary this morning. And I will say that as cold as it was, there were STILL inappropriately dressed people. Hats and gloves. Boots if you have them.

Anyhoodles, the train was nice and empty for 9/10ths of my ride in. I could get used to this.

This is why I drive a car. You couldn't pay me to stand and wait for a bus.

You couldn't pay me to pay to drive/own/maintain my own car again!
Besides, getting into a cold car with a cold steering wheel after it's been sitting in a GO parking lot all day isn't any better - sorry.

Not even that, but when it is this cold: A) batteries may not work right and B) sitting in the cold car while waiting for it to warm up enough to drive isn't worth it. Rather bundle up and stand at the bus stop for 10 mins than sit in a cold car for the same amount of time.

-20? Pffffftttt...

currently at 12 Noon in Ottawa it is -26 without windchill (-36 with windchill).

But anyway, anything -15 and below I just stop counting....

so yes -20 is cold :)

I know, beach weather, right Michael?
It's -36C in Thunder Bay right now according to a friend.

PS. When the bus arrives, it's warm. All of this is faster than a a cold car. I know, I used to drive one and I prefer wait for bus then wait in cold car. Plus, no scraping!!!

Dollars to doughnuts she drove to a GO station. When I drove I most certainly did not dress for the weather and never seemed to learn my lesson. Then, when I started taking the green limo, I learned real quick that hats are a must and skirts are a no.

I drove to the GO station and I was double scarfed, leg warmers under the pants, long coat, headband and extra long gloves. It's cold waiting on the platform especially when da train is late.

As an aside, years ago when I worked in the oil industry (1980 or so), I spent a week in Fort McMurray Alberta when the temperature was - 45 with a windchill of -70. Plus blizzard conditions with all the blowing snow. We had to drill a water well in the granite-hard ground out on the open plains-type area. The machines were run all the time even when not in use. Gas and oil froze into an iron like consistency if you left it out in the cold.

I hate cold now, I hated it just as much back then. I'm going to retire to Vancouver Island when the time comes.

Until then I'm staying indoors in this weather until June.
