I totally did this

Tonight.
Get off the train. Texting. Texting. Texting. Tweeting. Tweeting.
Get on bus.
Bus pulls out of station.

I DROVE TO THE STATION THIS MORNING.

The first stop off the bus out of Oshawa GO is not until we are well past the highway - a good kilometre or two from the GO Station. We were way past any place safe for the driver to drop me off so I didn't bother asking or begging. I just sat back and sucked it up.

I was on total autopilot. I had the car because my husband is away and I am on babysitter pick-up and drop-off duty. I just sat there on the bus totally pissed at my own stupidity.

It was a wet, snowy, windy walk back to the GO Station. I kept hoping that someone would recognize me and pull over, like a train buddy, or a friend, or a neighbour, and give me a lift back. Nope. Didn't happen.

I was over 45 minutes late to fetch my daughter.

My babysitter fed her dinner. I am blessed I tell you.

It happens. Don't beat yourself up about it. I think we've all done that once in our life!! At least I've done that before. You'll laugh about it later!

No beating here. Just amazed that I could be that distracted. I still can't believe I did that.

The odd time I drive to the station, I actually have a mantra I do both on the way to the office and on the way home. At the office, I write a sticky note and put it on my keys. Because I know this will happen otherwise.

Auto-pilot is evil. Glad it all worked out in the end.

Scarier yet, is when you are in your car on auto pilot, and suddenly come out of the reverie and you have passed your exit! How safe of a drive was that!

The human mind.. a wonderous organ!

Reminds me of the time I lived about 2 km from work. I walked home only to realize I had left my purse (and keys) at work! I had to walk back and home again, all the way hoping someone would recognize me and stop to offer a ride - didn't happen :(

I'm sure my adoring band of trolls will be delighted to learn that I woke up with razor blades in my throat and a raging fever. I was not dressed appropriately for that hike and my wool coat got soaked. I was chilled to the bone. The seats are heated in our car but it didn't help.

I take the bus almost every day now too and I am just waiting for the day when I actually drive and take the bus home. Ive almost done it a few times myself. Why didnt you just stay on the bus and do a loop back to the station for your car?

You mean having stayed on the whole 45 minutes to Newcastle and back? Not a good idea.
