GO rider files human rights complaint after other drivers block disabled parking

FROM A TORONTO STAR REPORT

A passenger frustrated with fellow commuters using the disabled parking area at King City GO Station as an informal Park and Ride, and with GO'S lack of parking bylaw enforcement, is fighting back - by launching a formal complaint with the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario and asking for $100,000.00 in compensation.
GO Transit has until April 21 to respond to Sandra Kendall's complaint.

  1. Not that I agree with Human Rights Tribunals, but if it can help this situation, then I am all for it.

And as a plus, maybe if it does help here, the decision on enforcement can be used at other stations for other by-law infractions.

  2. I wonder if I were to file for damages after the next time that I had an allergic reaction to buttsucker smoke, would GO start enforcing the no smoking rule at Oakville station?... or at least put up more visible and direct signage informing the public that smokers are not supposed to be polluting their air?

I'm curious. Hey - any of you Go Transit Enforcement types and PR flunkies - do ya also wanna see what happens when I do?

  3. Vigilante justice is the most effective way of teaching these drivers a lesson.

Otherwise, they'll never learn. People here aren't really proactive but instead, are reactive. Add in vigilante justice, and then they'll learn
