One of my favourite stand-up comics died on the weekend, apparently from natural causes. John Pinette was overweight but like myself, he had been working on getting healthy. He had dropped considerable weight since his early performances.
I'd like to take a moment to honor him here.
And from Matt:

I am so sad, he was a great comedian. He passed way to soon.
I've surprised myself by how melancholic I've been since hearing the news. Typically when "celebrity" people die, I tend to feel nonplussed. I didn't know them, right? So why should I feel sad? Puts it into a whole new perspective for me as to why people travel to Graceland or the whole Kurt Cobain media blitz that's been going on lately.
"I've been employee of the week twice and I don't even work there."
Best line for many a McDonald's. You have no idea how many times I've wanted to hop the counter, work the fries and grab my own burger.
My favorite John Pinette skit:

My favourite bit is him discussing the effects of curry while visiting an Indian restaurant, and the location of the restroom. Waaaay over there!
He toured Canada so many times, I thought he was Canadian.
RIP John Pinette.
It's funny CJ I feel the same way, the only other celebrity I really felt sad about, as if I knew him personally and still feel sad about is the late great John Candy.
