Because history (Context would also be nice)

Looking like the Mystery Machine's long-lost and lesser-known, crime-fighting cousin, I found this posting on Twitter. If anyone knows more about this illustration, I'd love to hear it.

    I believe this is a GO Dial-a-Bus van which was used in the early 1970's to serve parts of North York.

    They had one of those on display with a larger GM bus at the CNE exhibit in the 70's, presumably when they decided to launch a bus service to complement trains.

    It was likely used on lower ridership routes. Looks like a modified Dodge van.

    These buses ran from 1970-1973 from Pickering GO station. They would note the riders' addresses and drop them off (in turn) at their driveway. Cost about 35 cents, then 50 cents (free if you came straight off the train). If you phoned they would also pick you up at your house to get to the station.
    Later switched to scheduled routes.
