Just curious ... any candidates at your station this morning?

At Oshawa GO, PC incumbent Jerry Ouellette was out. I like Jerry. Chad and I lived in Oshawa for six years and he was always open to my phone calls about the Oshawa waterfront, transit, traffic and environmental concerns. He's represented Oshawa for a long time. I have faith he will be re-elected.

The only Clarington (Durham) candidate who ventured out was Granville Anderson on Monday morning, who I blew past because I had the opportunity to catch the 7:28 am train and I took it with less than a minute to spare. I regret not being able to stop and chat. His office never returned my call.

So what was ALL OF THE POLITICS at your station this morning?

  1. I like Jerry too! He has been a faithful supporter of Oshawa at Queen's Park and what I most admired about him was his approachability. I worked from home today. I would have loved to have said hi.

  2. PC candidate was at my station yesterday. I also saw him a few weeks ago there. No one today as far as I know, and I caught the 7.30 train. Never saw the NDP or the Liberal one. Of course, they could have been there on a day I was working from home or even last week when I was on vacation.

For some reason, I thought no one was supposed to be politicking today.

  3. Nothing this morning at 5:30 am but yesterday, our Green Party candidate was there. She's been there twice, and Christine Elliot (PC, incumbent) was there last week or the week before. I didn't see the Liberal, NDP, or Freedom Party candidates at all. But then I'm at the GO station stupid early in the morning.

The only literature I got in my mailbox was from Christine. Nobody to my door. No phone calls.

  6. The NDP guy was at Whitby station when I got off the train this afternoon.

  7. What I loved most about this election is that it knocked a few more cons out of the GTA. They only have 4 seats left at QP and the only reason why Elliot held on to Whitby is because voters were voting with their sympathies and not their heads.

  8. I am in Oshawa. Never saw Jerry once, or any of the candidates for that matter. In fact, the only piece of campaign material I got in my mailbox was from the NDP, Jennifer French.

I am guessing that after 20 years, Jerry was a little too comfortable. It cost him the election.

  9. Tracy MacCharles was at Pickering Wednesday morning. She seemed fairly happy, so I guess she must have had a good idea of how things were going to go.
