I'm not shy, I say - "Dude, line is back there, give it a try". He ignores me? I say - 'stay classy dude, stay classy'...and...push him on the tracks...
It's a frackin platform people. Just because you got there 15 mins early and someone else got the 30 seconds early doesn't mean you're more entitled to board the train first. Get a grip. Or better yet, place yourself in a beter position on the platform. Honestly, I understand irrations, but this one takes the self entitled cake.
Anon I think it's just common courtesy. While I don't expect just because I was there first I will get in first, it really all depends on where the doors are and it is more of an informal line but I think it is extremely rude when someone marches up and purposely shoves themselves at the front.
Actually, Anonymous, getting there 30 seconds before the train arrives doesn't mean you have to board LAST, but it certainly doesn't mean you get to stand at the front of the line.
I have the opposite pet peeve though - people who don't move in / down the platform and force me to shove my way past them or be stuck in the stairwell. If you're there first, and you care deeply, then move up to the line so this dude can squeeze in behind you. But people don't, they don't want to look too keen (despite being keen).
Now, if there was a mostly empty platform and he just stood there in front of you, that's just rude.

That irritates me to no end. In fact, I have started trying to position myself (and I am a big girl) in such a way to block their entrance.
ReplyDeleteI also have this pet peeve. You are not alone in this.
