A young male, believed to be 16 to 17 years old, was pronounced dead at the scene, which took place at Dundas Street West and Sterling Road in Toronto's west end.
Witnesses told CBC News that a group of youth had been loitering near the tracks prior to the incident.
It was also reported that GO Transit will be assisting police by providing footage recorded with on board camera equipment.
there is nothing sadder than a young kid dying because of a stupid act. I can atest that I have done my fair share of idiotic things with friends as a youth that could have resulted in a fatality (though never loitered around train tracks) and thankfully lived to tell about it. Kids think they are invincible. My thoughts and prayers to his family.

ReplyDeleteI was on that train last night, thank goodness at least GO and anyone else involved in the investigation handled this situation well. Thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

ReplyDeleteI think these teens should have the knowledge to realize that train tracks are dangerous places.
ReplyDeleteLet Darwin's natural selection take care of them
I live in the area. This is the word on the street. Take from it what you want but when I'm sober, I don't think playing chicken with a train is a good idea.
ReplyDeleteSometimes the consequences of a bad decision are too final. It's unfortunate that this lesson keeps getting repeated.
ReplyDeletePlease don't judge. RIP Ty.
