What in the hell is this? This is where our tax money is going, and they design a train that looks like it was built from recycled soviet warheads? Good god.
Ummm, really? You're getting bent out of shape over how it looks? That approach tends to be how many problems arise - "I don't care how it works, as long as it looks cool!!" Millions of dollars in fees high-priced designers with funny German rim glasses and it runs into problems.
Is your current GO train experience better because the locomotives have a newer, sleeker (albeit a bit more contemporary) design to them? How about all of the money Metrolinx is spending on changing the colours? Well worth what I suspect is tens of millions of dollars. Looks cool, no?
A couple of things: 1) worry about whether or not it works / is well designed mechanically / is reliable, 2) get multiple views of the aesthetic design before you pass judgement - 1 picture head-on does not tell you what it looks like, 3) get your freakin' priorities straight! - How many of you will ever even take this train?!?!
They're actually much better looking when viewed from the side or an angle. The ends are tapered like the GO locos. The diffrerence is that these trains are made to maximize space for luggage and stuff so they're quite a bit taller than the reular coach heights for a level.
I'll never use it but it would be kinda cool going over those sky-high trestles by the airport on that train. Except for a windy day, then it might be a bit scary as on the DD buses.
