Well Anon, if you do not like your situation/ availability of transportation, do something about it.
Move closer to work or get another job. Simple. In fact, if you do move closer to work, as long as it becomes within 40 km, you can get a nice tax credit.
Look for solutions and don't bitch about the situation.
In fact, I am not pleased about paying for GO to run trains out that far as I do not think it is economically feasible. If/when the ridership is there (and it is on the LSE/ LSW lines), that is a different scenario and your gripe has some value.
I'd love to know when the construction at Ajax is finally (if ever) going to be over as well. How many years has it been now? feels like 5. who knows? anyone? Bueller?? as for the whiney west-enders, ya it blows that your line totally sucks, but hey I would think that if the west end had the number of commuters/demand as in the east end, you'd have the frequent service we do too, right? but then again I could be wrong. Im just happy I got out of Brampton and moved to Ajax (despite the forever ongoing construction at my station).
Ajax construction (on the platforms) will be done by August by my reckoning. It's taken waaaaaaaay too long, for sure.
(Also: the half-hourly of-peak servcie has *nothing* to do with the peak service. If the Kicthener line got half-hourly off-peak service, the peak hour trains would surely be just as crowded...)
@Squiggles Quite a stupid ass argument really.... Considering the Lakeshore West line offers full service too. It should be the same service offered on all lines. Not putting excess funds into GO BIKE cops. Especially when you consider the number of commuters from Kitchener, Gerogetown, Brampton and all the stops in between it more than warrants additional service. By all means take some of the trains from the Lakeshore Easr and West lines that run virtually empty every 30 minutes until 1am! You consider that essential service? I don't. 4 trains during rush hour, no evening or weekend service. Ain't enough. Try it, you'll agree. P.S. And I don't plan on moving downtown again anytime soon. I've done it. It's like you're not even listening. I told you why. It can't be done. Freight traffic monopolizes those rails and Metrolinx doesn't own the rail lines your trains run on. Until the lines are bought or new lines are installed, it's going to be a long time before all day service. GO wants it but CN is not GO. Nope Anon, it is not. You only think it is because the opinion is contrary to yours and your situation. If you do not like your current lack of all-day GO Transit service, do something about it. Talk with Metrolinx, run for the government, etc. Do not blame others and/or let your apparent jealousies of other's situations get to you.
On a side note: the all-day service is pointless on the Lakeshore lines. And it is something that we (riders and the taxpayers) cannot afford. I have taken it on the weekends and the odd time during the weekday and it is not full. It is something they never should have done, or if they had to do something, then they should have rolled it out slower.

Imagine the level of complaining if the rpovince suddenly decided to expropriate in order to expand the rail network. NIMBYs ASSEMBLE!!! I also know who my line representative is and voiced my complaints about the above issues, and that person will be raising them in the meeting.

Pickering GO Station Guesstimated completion DATE: Spring/Summer 2014. South parking structure is open offering 1,200 new parking spaces. Level 1 is designated for reserved parking customers, the top 4 levels open to all customers. Work will continue on the link to the Hwy. 401 pedestrian bridge, covered accessible parking area, landscaping and promenade on the south side of the structure. Additionally, a section near the south elevator will close to connect pedestrian walkway to new parking structure. COMPLETION DATE: Summer 2015. The Hwy. 401 bridge over the platform to allow for construction of the platform-level elevators.
Ajax GO Station COMPLETION DATE: Mid-2014. This project involves the rehabilitation of the east part of the platform, including the installation of a snow-melting system.

Ajax, Oshawa, Whitby, Pickering, Scarborough approximate total population = 1,088,910
