Is John Tory's SmartTrack on track for seven-year delivery?

John Tory’s mayoral election campaign is riding on the provincial Liberal promise to electrify the GO trainsystem in 10 years. Tory’s SmartTracktransit plan features an even more stringent schedule: 53 kilometres with 22 stops of “surface subway” for $8 billion — in seven years. It would provide electric trains every 15 minutes on a U-shaped line…

  1. I always thought Tory wouldn't be considered a serious threat at city hall, being a three-time loser (politically) and all, but the more he talks, the more I like him.

  2. So he wants to spend billions on this, but thinks spending $60m/year on better TTC bus service is too expsnsive? Wow.
