Train pulls into Ajax Station this morning.
People start stomping up the stairs to the Quiet Zone when suddenly...
This woman pushes past three people and announces loudly, "I am 8 month pregnant. I better get a seat!"
She spots one and sits down, throws on some headphones and promptly dozes off.
Some people are shocked. Others are amused.
Like a boss.

I'm not condoning the behaviour, but it wouldn't be necessary if people would just give up their damn seat for elderly/pregnant/disabled people. Worse are all the lazy-asses who fill up the elevators instead of letting people who actually need the elevators to use them.
^ Agreed
Hey, she probably had put up with crap days before and decided to put on some big girl pants and tell it like it is.
I wish we could all be kind to each other but pregnancy guarantees nada so you have to fight for your right.
pregnancy is no excuse for rudeness, I would rather have someone ask politely for a seat explaining that they are 8 months pregnant than nearly pushing me over to get to one. But if I saw a woman who was pregnant standing, I wouldn't have to be asked.
The only dilema I have with this is I have a couple of times seen woman standing that I wasn't sure if they were or not, how do approach this without offending someone?
Hi Julie
She wasn't rude. She said it in a forceful sing-song kind of voice. I guess that would have been an important detail.
I found what she did kinda ballsy. Kinda the way I walk down the aisles and bellow, "Feet off the seats! Please!"
Ah ok, I guess it's hard to know without a tone of how she said it and in my head I had a different vision lol.
Just imagine her with a monster stroller in 6 months mowing everybody down and giving them the stink eye when they don't move out of her way. Or she refuses to collapse the stroller when she's on the train......ugh
I'm 7 months pregnant, and was standing on the GO train 3 days ago. No one offered me a seat. Everyone around me where men between 27-40. I didn't ask for a seat, because I thought someone will be willing to offer me a seat...someone! But honestly, people were just looking at me and then looked back down at their ipads.
I couldn't believe the blatant rudeness. Props to this lady.
For pregnant women, if no one offers you a seat, dont hesistate to ask politely to anyone sitting near the priority seating area. If I was in those seats and a pregnant woman asks, then I wont hesitate in offering that seat.
But for that women who decided to barrel down the aisles, I would shed no tears if she fell, and well let the ground do the talking.
As a gentleman, I have often offered my seat to those who look like they need it. But Unless someone is obviously pregnant, as in baby bump shaped not just large, I wouldn't offer it. However I still don't understand why this is even being discussed, there are at least 4 seats on the bottom of each coach that are reserved for the infirm, the elderly and the expectant.
Having said all that....if it was in a sing-song voice...props to the lady. I would offer my seat in gratitude for the smile she put on my face.
I will repeat this again because the problem is not all pregnant women are obvious, some women have different body types and I would NOT want to offend or hurt someone who may just be a little bigger by offering her a seat and insinuating that she is pregnant when she might not be. So I agree with Anon @ 3:03, please ask, there may be some jerks but I would like to think the majority would give up a seat if politely asked.
Not the same thing but a few years ago this gentleman and his wife were on the GO train and nicely asked if someone could give their seat up for his wife who just had surgery and the person he asked glady got up. Sometimes you just have to ask.
It`s really important news and thanks for sharing this news. I also agree with you that all the pregnant ladies need to better seat. Actually it's really true that pregnancy is a gift so all the mother really think about it and safety.
