A movement against so-called "man-spreading" seems to be gaining popularity among public transit users, including those in Toronto.
"Man-spreading" refers to male passengers who sit with their legs parted in a V-shape on crowded subways and buses.
The inelegant male posture has been the bane of many public transit users. It has been written about in blogs and those who are guilty of it have been publicly mocked on social media.

At least with the GO, the arm rests do contain the legs somewhat.
ReplyDeleteI was running late for a train last week and one of the only aisle seats available was across from a spreader. Had "fun" walking into his legs both trying to sit down and then getting up at Union. Never bothered him, until people started doing the same trying to get down the aisle. Then he tried to close the gap somewhat.
Once again, unless you are hung like a horse, there is no excuse for such behaviour and posture.
