I'll admit, I haven't ridden this style of coach much. And when I have, it's been downstairs. I thought the vinyl was bad, but up on the second level, there's a section of quads where the leg room is non-existent.
Because of this morning's malfunctioning trains that affected service to and from Oshawa, seats filled up quickly on the 7:15 and I was forced into the "intimate lounge". Thankfully a woman of a smaller stature sat across from me, but it was extremely cozy the next quad over.
Knees between the legs, anyone?

I avoid that quad at all costs. It's cozy, that's for sure.
I avoid those ones like the plague.
that's how i get my tendinitis back in my knee.......sigh....
I've been trapped in those ones twice, when I sat down before realizing my mistake. It almost feels like I should be buying the person across from me a drink before we engage in the bump-and-grind that these seats force us into. NEVER AGAIN!
Would be nice to have all forward facing seats.
Can't. GO trains work in a push and pull fashion. Unless they buy coaches where the seats swivel (like some Japanese trains), you'll have people riding backwards which for some passenger causes motion sickness. The coaches are done in this style to address the fact that the trains don't have to be turned around.
Getting to know you...getting to know all aboot you...
It would be better if the quad at the end was replaced with a pair, then everything would have sufficient space.
Yeah, those "rich Corinthian leather" seats rank right up there with the quad over the rear wheels of 8000 series DD's.

Don't you just love "smart design" products.
They really got the geometrics right on that one didn't they?
Oh, and when forethought is given on how to accommodate everyone in any given circumstance...
"Professionalism" ...what a concept!
I would fire whoever designed these. Seriously, if you're looking for a job badly done - there it is. The designer/engineer needs but a ruler, yet there are so many technologies and tools available. You have to be one special imbecile to come up with this. I want to know the names of people who have signed the draft for this. I want to know who worked as a designer for GO when these were made.
