You're smart enough to realize how much Internet Explorer sucks.
I just got an email from a person who complained my site doesn't work well in her browser. I asked her what she was using and she said, "Explorer". I told her to download Chrome since I know the site has no issues with Chrome. She refused, claiming Explorer was the "industry standard", and I should comply.
I don't "work" for the 5%!

Seriously? Industry Standard?
I blew that sucker away a couple years ago. Will never go back. And may have done a little cheer when it was announced that Microsoft will be getting rid of it soon.
Some corporate policies restrict browsing to IE because they can lock it down, limit usable features and plugins and generally spy on you. It sucks, they lost the battle, and even with a new browser coming with Windows10, I'm not sure they'll ever be able to catch up.
Wondering, for Chrome, I'm guessing that's both mobile Chrome and desktop Chrome together? Safari gets split up in those results.
I'm waiting to see what the new browser from MS called Edge is like.
It can't be worse than Explorer. Can it? Really?
Time will tell.
^ Which is why it's the only browser "supported" by IT, too (at least where I work) but my department uses Chrome because we have to support those who support us and THEY use Chrome.
Answer to your second question is yes.
Our firm policy is IE but my department uses Chrome as well because we need to test our site with what our clients use. I just have this site bookmarked in Chrome and not IE.
I've pretty well scrapped Explorer here at work no matter what they say. It's bloated, freezes up and generally takes too long to load the complex web sites I need to frequent.
Chrome and Firefox are much better. Damn you MS, making me ignore the higher ups just to get some work done.
My company not only uses IE but IE 8 (welcome to 2007) and you get an earful from IT if you try upgrading to a later version. Everyone in the office has Chrome and uses it but again, IT gives us warnings about how it can't be supported and the sky will fall down if we keep using Chrome.
LOL Go figure, I'm using IE 11 here at home on my new computer. Your site is working fine for me.
the only time i use IE is to download chrome or firefox :) on my windows phone i have to resort to using IE, theres no real choice for windows phone
I pretty much only use IE and haven't had any problems.
My work computer is stuck with an old version of IE, because the newer version require a service pack for Windows (!?!?!). Installing the service pack is a pain, and I don't have an hour of spare time when working for IT to install it (because, y'know, I'm working).
I would have responded, "Okay, that's good to know. Thanks so much for the feedback! I'm going to tweak the site until it works perfectly with Explorer. Just keep hitting refresh every half hour or so. Thanks!" Then picture some doink sitting expectantly in front of her laptop eagerly awaiting a "new and improved" blog that never materializes.
^ the best. Ever.
