Obviously her bags are THAT important that they must have their own seat. She got up out of her seat to stand like this about 3 stops into the standing-room-only trip. I get off around stop 10 and she was STILL THERE, blocking the exit of course!
I realize it's a GO blog but I group TTC frustrations in there too. Reading your blog keeps me sane on my commute :)

Ok, so I have a question. Would it be ok to do this on a transit vehicle that wasn't packed? I've wondered about this. I like to stand because of back pain issues. But sometimes my bags are heavy so I stand next to a seat and rest my bags on it. I'd never do it on a packed vehicle, but I've wondered about the ethics of it. Technically, if I wasn't inclined to stand I could use the seat for sitting (just one seat, bags go on my lap) and then I'd be taking up the seat either way. What's the etiquette in this situation?

ReplyDeleteCommunication is key. Had a lady say standing was better for her but suggested she put her bags under my seat instead of on the GO train seat next to me. That's not fair to people who pay a fare and expect to sit.
