Since WHEN do the PSAs ever intervene to ask riders to keep to one seat space? If this is happening somewhere, do tell, since I'd be very keen to have them transfer some of these GO personnel to the LSE line (morning and afternoon, please!).
Nora, I've heard my CSA in the morning make announcements about keeping bags on your lap or on the floor. Not every day but it is becoming more frequent. Also he reminds people not to put their feet on the seats. I'm on the 5:53 am LSE from Whitby.
@Bicky: That's bizarre because, for the past while, I've been on the same train (which I know as the 5:47 am LSE from Oshawa). I can't recall any commentary re: feet on seats or bags on laps. He does regularly offer the "friendly reminder" re: the QZ though...
I definitely think I'd recall a bags on seats announcement because there are a number of "regulars" sitting around me (I'm the relative newbie on that train) who do it ALL. THE. TIME. One woman sits with her ample thighs spread as far as she can get them, her stuffed backpack on the seat beside her (on the courtesy seating side seats) with a face on her like a burst boot (as my mother would say) and remains that way until Ajax, when her friend arrives and she moves her stuff. Even though I never have a problem getting a seat myself, it drives me nuts to see people board the train at Whitby, glance at this scenario and have to walk on to find seating elsewhere. Yesterday a young girl took her life in her hands and asked her to move her stuff. To the woman's credit, she did, but her attitude made it very clear that she was NOT pleased (I actually expected her to point out to the young lady that there were other free seats she could sit in, but amazingly, she didn't).

I agreed the CSA's and GO COPs are no where to be found and I have never seen one of them intervene.

Sigh.
