It's VIP parking every day for this driver at Maple GO

  1. And Go Transit does nothing. I've even called security about illegal parking and when I got home it was worse than ever. I think I might give up the first on parking infractions, it's a losing battle they don't care about. Just wait for someone to get hurt because of their negligence and I will have lots of proof for the subsequent lawsuit.

  2. Maple is the all-time worst for illegal parking. There are easily about 15-20 cars illegally parked in every possible spot imaginable.

  3. I take the train in from Oshawa…..I work afternoons and take a later train home every night so I got one of the reserved spots because there is never any parking available by the time I get to the station. Every day there has been some fuckhead parked in my spot. I guess people assume that if the spot is still open after 9am then it is fair game. I have to call transit safety and get permission to park in the kiss'n'ride which drives me nuts……I've seen the way people drive in and out of there to pick up passengers so eventually one of those idiots will hit my car. I know there is a shortage of parking at many of the GO stations but, unless these cars are towed away, problems like the one in the picture above and my own personal issue will keep happening. A $25 ticket is no deterrent. Having your car towed and having to pay to get it back might wake some of these assholes up to the fact that, in spite of what their mommy may have told them, they are not special snowflakes whose existance is so special that the regular rules do not apply. I'm sure the towing/impound companies would be more than happy to help.

  4. The ticket for praking in a reserved spot is equal to the price of that reserved spot for a month. After multiple infractions for the same vehicle, it is towed. How do I know? I work for GO.

    1. Why don't they tow the first time they do it? As a paid reserved parking customer - I had to nearly miss my train because someone is in my spot. I pay $94 a mth to have that spot so yes I don't appreciate someone taking it and then causing me to be inconvenienced. I pay for that convenience and happy to do so if it's always there for me when I get there. Who's going to pay me for my loss? Seems like GO transit is benefiting from these incidents and taking the money instead of reimbursing the paid customer.

  6. I overheard some idiot actually say if the spot is open after 9 then you can park there. NOT!!

  7. He must be confused. Carpool spots still available after 9am are fair game. Not reserved. Those are all day Monday to Friday.

  8. Go should tow anyone parked in someone's reserved spot and put a huge sticker on their window with glue that is super impossible to remove.
They used to do this at my old building downtown. I had a reserved spot but didn't drive for about a year, it was for guests or when I rented a car for the weekend. Inevitably every weekend some jackass parked in it.

  9. Those 60 newly added parking at Maple station are all taken before 7:10 am, what is the point having more frequent trains !!!

And GO has been converting over 200 free parking into reserved parking in the last 6 months, 3-4 times more than those 60 "added" parking at Maple station.

We need a long term plan for this parking problem immediately as there are thousand of new houses in Maple are moving in soon, the demand will continue to grow and the situation will only get worst. Land around the Maple station are all sold to developers for townhouses/condos.

  10. The parking at Maple GO Stn is ridiculous. If I'm not there by 7:05am, I'm out of luck. I literally take 2 trains earlier than I need to just to get a parking spot. I parked on Hill St. once and got a nice $35 fine. I tried Rutherford GO Stn, and it wasn't much better - it filled up by 7:15am. There's just no winning. The population in Vaughan keeps growing, and the options for a decent way to get to work keep diminishing. Governments of Ontario, Vaughan, Toronto... some help please!

  11. I second the comment regarding the horribly full parking lots at Rutherford and Maple. Every morning I run into issues here and it appears the city or Go transit are doing nothing about it. I have to wait every morning until our baby sitter arrives until I can head to the go station and the parking lot is basically full at either Rutherford or Maple by 7:15am - my baby sitter cannot arrive to my house any earlier. It is absurd that I would have to pay a monthly fee for reserved parking just to get around this issue. What is the city doing about this????

  12. The situation with parking at Maple station is outrageous. Ticket prices go higher every year, without any improvement to service. The fact that they add more trains is a safe way to transport thousands of customers that have no other means or competition to choose from. The land around the go train station was sold to developers, and Go Transit made no attempt to purchase any of that land. They purchased a backyard of a house and advertised for a whole year 60 spots in an unpaved parkinglot, yet there are more customers parking illegally outside of the station than there are in it. A count of all cars parked at Lowes, Walmart and streets will yeald more cars parked outside than in.

To the person that complains about parking illegally, the complaint should be made to Go Transit, not to these poor people that have children and that are desperate that Go Transit do not care about providing more parking spots. A parking structure should be built, but the only reason it is not is that it cuts into the outrageous profits this company makes. The solution GO Transit came up with to the parking shortage they face is to make 60% of the parking pay parking. When asked why they monetarize the parking spots, their answer was "because there is demand". The demand is because of desperation, not because people want to pay. This is fake demand generated by the money made from it. The 600 spots that were made "pay parking", generate $60,000 dollars in profit every mount. How can they say that is demand??? OUTRAGEOUS.

  14. Maple Go has very limited parking during weekdays, and this is why things like this happen all the time. People are willing to pay for parking, sometimes they rather eat a ticket than being late for work.

I think apps like GoParkr.com can be of help for the commuters looking for parking to be able to reserve monthly parking spots from nearby property/building owners such as church, art gallery, schools, and even offices that have unused parking space available during the day
