Putting your feet on the seat now carries a $75 fine

On November 5, 2015 the Chief Justice of Ontario ordered the by-law update of the Metrolinx Part 1 – Provincial Offences Act, By-Law No. 2 Regulation of Regional Transit System (Metrolinx).

Included amongst the new or increased fines for various infractions, is the offence of “Place foot on vehicle seat” which is a set fine of $75.00.

For more information visit the GO Transit website page Rules & Regulations, under GO Transit’s By-Laws, By-law No. 2 or the Ontario Court of Justice website.

I can't ... I ...

However, it's discretionary and up to Transit Safety Officers to enforce. They can warn a passenger, or write the ticket, but still...

  2. The only problem - and I mean ONLY problem - is the part about it being at the CSA's discretion to impose the fine. I find it impossible to imagine any of these guys (or gals) actually demanding that a passenger pony up the cash and really, what can they do to make someone pay?

    Still, it's a lovely thought...

    1. Csa has nothing to do with enforcement of any GO policies. They're there in an operational capacity. All they can do is inform ppl of the polices but ultimately it's transit safety to enforce and issue fines

  7. Transit Safety Officers write the tickets. CSAs are not officers of the court I'm afraid. Meanwhile I'm like, GIVE ME A BADGE!

  12. I hope the first recipient of this charge is the douche on the 4:07 Union Station to Oshawa who *always* has his feet on the seats, 2 or 3 cars West of the accessibility coach. He then walks down the platform smoking at Oshawa. EVERY.DAY.

    What a concept!
Next thing you know they'll be claiming that our countries are actually, and have always been, "countries of written laws".
