Have you seen the LSE vape girl yet?
She's about 21. Blonde hair. Black jacket. Sorel boots.
She boards at Oshawa (7:15/7:28) and scurries her way to the Quiet Zone in the coaches farthest to the west where she lights her e-cigarette and vapes the whole train ride to Union. Big clouds of white smoke that she claims is good for us. Cures cancer, apparently (she sassed this much to me).
She's special. She must be. She's the only one sucking vape. No one else is.
All around her, plumes of white smoke (she says it's not smoke, it's just vapor and it's harmless even though I asked her what chemical was in it to make it white) billow out and curl around other passengers' heads.
I saw her Thursday and Friday. This morning I decided to ask her to stop. She cussed me out. No one backed me up.
Thanks guys. Maybe you feel paying $319 a month (soon to be $334) justifies this kind of uncouth behaviour and you're in no position to say something, but I strongly disagree.
I'm not forking out this money to inhale something where no one can give a definitive answer whether it's harmful or not. I'm not taking any chances. We already expose ourselves to enough toxins.
I don't need one more.
She can suck my fist. How's that?

That is just ignorant, and what is wrong with people not standing up for their fellow passengers? I seriously think this is the problem, if more people backed those who have enough guts to say something then more people would actually stand up to these idiots. Thank you for saying something CJ, I may not have had the nerve to do it myself and I wish I did, but if I was standing close by I would have stood by you 100%.
I think this is a perfect opportunity to use the yellow strip. Normally, I do not condone pushing it, but A) she is breaking the law, B) is harassing other passengers with her smoke and C) is being verbally assaulting to any who confronts her.
Maybe, if brought to the CSA's attention, there may finally be consequences for her actions.
I agree, while I was speaking to her, it would have been great if another passenger just took the time to press the strip.
There is a ban on E-cigarettes in public places and workplaces that is supposed to come into effect later this year. But, as has been discussed so many times on this blog, GO Transit is NOT a public space and their rules are up to them. Complain to the CSA.
Vaping is NOT allowed on GO Trains or GO Transit property. They treat it the same way was cigarettes.
There's an older woman who vapes on the train too. She's sat across from me a couple of times, sucking on that thing the whole way home.
I inquired at GO, and was informed IT'S NOT ALLOWED!
Bring on the fines!!
I think a lot policies are only being revised to explicitly include vaping. If the GO has already covered it, then great. I don't know much about it aside from it seeming like a covert attempt to smoke whatever you want in public without any lingering evidence. But if you can't wait the 30-45 minute average commute to have a puff, then you have a problem. If that's not the definition of a problem, it should be.
1) just the word "vaping" sounds wrong 2) these e cig idiots are so dumb, especially if your e cigs have nicotine in them, you didnt quit anything you just substituted something that is definitely bad for you with something they dont know is bad for you yet......
I think GO needs to have a CSA who walks through the train looking for delinquents. Sort of like the teacher who used to walk around behind our backs when we were taking an exam trying to pass bits of paper...

I have offered NUMEROUS times to be a Courtesy Enforcement Officer.
Many times.
Like a lot.
It's been suggested before that a call to GO Transit Safety Dispatch (1-877-297-0642) may be in order. Request a TSO intercept for your train and car number.
Noted. Too busy arguing. Not enough thinking of how to be better proactive. I failed.
