I nominate LSE for most dangerous GO route

Fraud, assault top list of crimes on TTC buses

A man aboard the 96 Wilson bus route waves a steak knife in front of a pregnant woman’s stomach before punching her in the head.

A public masturbator on the 53 Steeles East line ejaculates on another passenger’s sleeve.

These incidents represent just two of more than 4,000 crimes that have taken place on board TTC…

  1. The TTC and the City need to decide once and for all how they are going to handle security on the transit system. There has been a lot of back and forth about whether they should continue with the Special Constables or replace them with police. Unfortunately, as is typical in Toronto, there has been a lot of political waffling and not much actual decision making. This has left security planing for the TTC in limbo, with nobody really sure what is going on.

  2. The list looks very similar to the list of busiest routes. It's a reflection of the number of people, not the area served.

  3. God!!!
Do Toronto passengers really have such terrible luck on their transit system?
I should quit complaining about Columbus. The incidents you mention are quite bizarre by comparison (there was one incident in Columbus a little while back where a driver got her purse snatched by a passenger at the terminus of her route and he beat her down when she attempted to snatch it back from him).

Some folks need to be "permanently banished" from the transit system. Let them walk their 10 miles or so. Screw them!

  4. As for a transit system having their own police force:
BART (in the San Francisco Bay Area) has their own BART police force as does Atlanta (MARTA police).
