Sounds more like an election promise.
Even if it's approved, I'm looking at how long it's taking them to install an elevator at Pickering and to complete the station at Burlington and thinking we'll all be dead in the ground before a GO Train goes one inch past Oshawa.

Sadly, I'm inclined to agree with @G. It was my understanding that this expansion was "confirmed" by the Ontario government years ago and was supposed to have been long finished by now. Instead, customers are still signing petitions and MPPs are still making promises.
Is this anything to do with the new VIA line to Peterborough?
This will never happen as long as the feds and the province don't bully CP Rail into cooperating.
Again nothing to do with CP. The LSE is on CN.
The plan was to run a spur to the old knob hill farms store and then use the CP corridor from there to bowmanville.
That requires CP cooperation.
