This is so true. Let's also talk about makeup, shall we?

There was not one, but five women in my coach this morning putting on faces. I was seated with two woman who decided the morning commute was the best place to conduct such personal hygiene methods. One did the whole ritual - moisturizer, foundation (wet naps upon wet naps), curled her eyelashes, lined her eyes, mscara-mascara-mascara ... blushed her cheeks, lined her lips and lipstick-lipstick-lipstick. The other one groomed her nails, combed her eyebrows and powdered her face. Further down the aisle, another woman LOTIONED HER GODDAMN FEET before sliding them back into her flip flops. Speaking of flip flops, I can't wait for that stupid fad to die. You all look dumb. Don't care if I cause butt hurt. Surf away!

I find all of these intimate rituals distracting (in some cases, disgusting) and really awkward. Personal hygiene is an intimate endeavour. I really hate that people share it.

im suprised the flipflop craze hasn't died off, the crocs craze did....... flipflops offer no support, i dont know anyone sane who'd wear outside of a beach environment.......

I loved my flip flops. And now am paying the price.

I do wear them to put out the garbage in the summer, to the pool when in Florida, or the locker room if I am somewhere with lockers, because ick. But I do have a pair in my backpack for the summer. Just in case something happens to my shoes (or if I am wearing nice sandals and it is a torrential downpour) or I don't want to ruin them.

But as a pair of commuting shoes? Are they nuts? The toes get so dirty and who knows how well they will stay on. I mean, someone just lost a ballet flat a couple of weeks ago and they stay on feet better than the flop.

Flip flops were never meant to be daily foot wear. They offer no support or protection. If you want comfort, wear running shoes or sneakers. No one wants to look at your cracked, cheese grater heels.

i do agree with squiggles, in rare occasions i had to stay with my sister in her dorm (back then, my parents thought it would be better for me to stay with her, as she went to UOFT downtown and my school was at bathurst and eglinton) i wore flip flops to the shared showers..... they are good for things like that and pools, i use crappier sandals for pool usage....

They are convenient for sure. But some people have begun to confuse them for "shoes". They are banned in my office. Thank god.

You sound EXTREMELY entitled and snobby, MUCH more so than any "foot rider" I've seen or heard of. My god.
