After 15 years it was time for a uniform update. Beginning next week, @GOtransit staff will gradually start wearing a fresh new look pic.twitter.com/8QU5F74abg— Anne Marie Aikins (@femwriter) October 31, 2016
For those blocked from Twitter, GO Transit unveiled its new uniforms today. Some passengers questioned the financial impact. The official word was the uniform launch was built into the existing budget.@femwriter @giaco82 @GOtransit @NOtransit pretty sure the huge fare increase is coming regardless. Some fresh salt for our wounds...— Joe (@joes_world) October 31, 2016
Be that as it may, but no one will think that the uniforms were built into the budget.
ReplyDeleteThey need to think of the optics of this. After all the shit that the PAYING customer has put up with from them these last few months, this doesn't look like a good thing.
What they should have done was either A) introduced them without the fan fare or B) wait until the new year.
Uniforms are worn by staff regardless and each year, staff are alotted a certain amount of uniforms.
ReplyDeleteA new uniform and possibly a new vendor may actually save money...
Christopher who are you trying to kid. Another waste of money. The uniforms are ugly. I don't think, I've heard a positive word about them today from the front line workers. Shirts to small. Pants to short. The fit is a modern fit. Modern for who 20 year olds. Most of the men's pants you can see their package, and they are uncomfortable. Idiots someone trying to justify their job.
ReplyDeleteI dont think they are an improvement.
ReplyDeleteIf McDonald's announced an employee uniform update, I wouldn't necessarily immediately assume the cost of my Happy meal would be going up.
ReplyDeleteThe fare is going up regardless of new uniforms or not. When gas prices increased, they bumped fares as a result. When gas prices decreased... they still bumped up fares. They'll always find a reason to need more money. The problem is that the rate of increase is much higher than the rate of increase in everyone's pay (and the rate of increase of driving), so at some point it just becomes unjustifiable. At the current fares, it costs the same for me to drive and park downtown as it does to take the train. If it increases much more it'll be hard to make an economic case for the train, even taking the tax break into account.
ReplyDeleteI wish they had kept the logo a familiar green colour. Otherwise they look like they've been filmed in black and white.
ReplyDeleteCan't argue with government when it's obvious they're simply trying to keep their priorities straight and practical.
