This is how I remember the LSE being like before the big push to tear down the houses near Rouge Hill GO and claw back the cliffs to put in a trail. It was the mid 90s and I'd travel to Whitby to visit my boyfriend at the time. I used to marvel how close to the water's edge the tracks were.

Would the tracks ever get flooded out during long periods of heavy non-stop rain?

No, I don't believe so since it was never low lying. But there are tracks that run alongside the Don River in Toronto that do flood.
I remember those days, grew up in the Rouge and really miss it. Now it is so developed and busy it's crazy.
I would actually like a print! Perhaps contacting the Archives would be the thing to do?
