It shouldn't even be a debate!

This instagram post is timely due to what I experienced this morning whilst boarding the 7:03 train departing from Oshawa:

Two women get on. One woman exclaims, "These seats are so dirty!" Both sit down opposite each other. Both proceed to put their boots on the cushions of the seats in front of them. I counted to three, got up, walked over and said, "Now you know why the seats are so dirty."

Are people really this clueless?

We shouldn't have to debate the lack of class displayed by other passengers. We all pay to ride. We all have a right to say something to these asshats.

  1. The bare feet in the summer are bad enough, but who the hell thinks it's OK to put your snow-and-salt covered boots all over a seat that you know someone is going to sit on in a few minutes? I can't believe someone could be so inconsiderate of others.

  2. Yes people are this clueless. It's amazing how much. I'm glad we die because they seem to be getting worse and I would not want to see the cluelessness in 100 years.

  3. Tbh for cleanliness sake... They should abandon the quads ans go for standard front facing seats at the same distance apart ad the buses.

  4. @Unknown That's a good suggestion, except that I've noticed some people seem to get motion sickness if they're facing in the opposite direction of travel. I suppose they could mix up the configuration the way they do on the UP Express, where several rows are facing one way and another block of rows are facing the other way...

  5. Our CSA in the morning has been making announcements. And Howard, the 4:30 pm LSE CSA, also does it.

Sadly, these clueless ninnies will reproduce... and the cycle continues.

  7. A woman got on the train this morning at Oakville and commented that MX should clean the trains more often. She then left her newspaper, Timmies meal leftovers and an empty water bottle on the seat when she got off the train at Union.

    Asshole.

I'm normally on the train during commuter hours and I think most of those folks are well behaved trash-wise. One exception is that nobody seems to think that newspapers are trash because it's the norm to leave them tucked beside their seat for some reason.

Anyway, last Friday I had to work late and ended up taking a train home around 9pm. The place was a pigsty. Trash was absolutely everywhere: on the floors, the seats, in the isles... don't people realize that somebody has to clean that up? Disgusting people with disgusting attitudes.

I'd normally agree but the CSA made the announcement to take everything with you when exiting including newspapers and coffee cups.

People are slobs on public transportation. It never occurs tot he idiots that it costs lots of cash to keep the trains clean. They don't clean themselves and if you can help by not cluttering it up, the system can save money. Too complex for some morons it seems.

  10. ya it drives me crazy how many people leave their newspapers behind! Often I will say "excuse me, but you left your trash on your seat!"

  11. Unfortunately the latest "Collision Energy management" rules require that all seats in the cab car either face the locomotive or be quad seats. It is something about protection in a collision in which the cab car is leading. Given that though, there is no reason that they need to keep putting in the quads in the other cars. Most people would prefer dual seats and put a few quads in the mid level end sections of each car. The 2500 accessible coaches would be the other exception on their lower level.
